University tunas play an important role in the social life of university students in Portugal and Spain. The Female Tuna of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Porto in Portugal was formed in 1996 by a group of friends who believe that music greatly increases the enjoyment of student life. The group sings traditional Portuguese songs and, over the years, has grown to include over 70 members. The group has performed at academic events and festivals in Europe, the United States, Canada and Brazil.

Admission is free. All are welcome.
