Abstract:
After the landmark Revolution of 1974, society in Portugal, and consequently, schools, embarked on a long journey of institutional change and democratization. With the rapid quantitative expansion of the student population at all school levels, the concept of curriculum evolved in correlation with the increase in the number of years of compulsory education and expanded weekly school hours. This process has implied major changes in the school system, projecting on it new responsibilities which are evident in the teaching of Portuguese. |
