CAPLE Exams - International Certification in Portuguese as a Foreign Language

The School of Modern Languages and Cultures (SMLC) at the University of Hong Kong is an accredited examination location for CAPLE proficiency exams in Portuguese as a foreign language. The SMLC is certified by the Centre for Assessment and Certification of Portuguese as a Foreign Language (CAPLE) of the University of Lisbon. The CAPLE exam is the leading international standard assessing proficiency in Portuguese. It is widely accepted by a variety of institutions in Portugal and overseas for people looking to study, work and/or obtain Portuguese nationality. The exams assess competence in Portuguese as a foreign language in six levels (A1 to C2), as defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) developed by the Council of Europe.

Every May and November, the SMLC offers assessments leading to the internationally recognised CAPLE proficiency certifications in Portuguese as a foreign language.
