The story of a domestic helper who works for a celebrity and receives a sudden visit by her estranged daughter, Jéssica. During her stay in São Paulo to take university entrance exams, Jéssica shakes up the status quo at her mother’s workplace, and breaks social barriers along the way. This comedy reflects the momentous changes in contemporary Brazil. It sold in more than 22 countries across the world, making Director Anna Muylaert one of the most successful filmmakers in Brazil. She will join us via videoconference from Brazil to discuss her work and what it means to be a woman filmmaker in her country today.
